Alexander Reisinger
Salzburger Brezen, Glühwein & punch · from Salzburg · two hutsTwo huts, twelve kinds of Brezen
In Alexander Reisinger's two huts at Mirabellplatz, you'll find Salzburger Brezen (Salzburg-style pretzels) in twelve varieties, plus Glühwein (hot mulled wine, spiced with cinnamon, cloves and orange), punch, coffee and hot sausages. Alexander founded his business, Salzburger Brezen, in 1996 with a Brezen stand on Salzburg's Universitätsplatz.
The Brezen are “handmade in Salzburg”, and Alexander has been at Mirabellplatz for more than 25 years.
What you’ll find here
- Salzburger Brezen in twelve varieties, handmade in Salzburg
- Glühwein and Glühmost (hot spiced cider)
- Orange punch and Kinderpunsch (alcohol-free punch for children)
- Coffee
- Hot sausages
You'll get the Brezen in one hut, and drinks and sausages in the other. The Brezen are baked fresh every day by a baker who starts work earlier specially for them.
“In May 1996, after months of thinking it over, I decided to open a Brezen stand on Salzburg's Universitätsplatz!”
— Alexander Reisinger on how Salzburger Brezen began
New this year
This year, “a newly decorated Christmas hut” awaits you.
Tip from the hut
“Best to try every kind of Brezen, because each one is better than the last.”
Who’s behind the counter
Both huts are staffed by “our dear employees”, as the business puts it.
Beyond the market
Outside the Christmas market, you'll find Salzburger Brezen at the stand on Universitätsplatz, right next to the Universitätskirche (University Church). The Brezen also travel to “all the larger events throughout Austria” – Kirtage (traditional village fairs), folk festivals, and lake, village and town festivals – as well as to Bavaria and Italy.
